1. Have your contact list ready to import. It should include at least three columns, Name, Phone and Email, and it must be a CSV file.
2. Go to Contacts in the left-hand side menu.
3. From the action bar select “Import Contacts”.
4. Map your fields to ensure the details are coming over correctly. This steps tells ZipLeads where to store the information on the Contact Card. For example, “Member Name” from the CSV file should be mapped to “Name” in ZipLeads and “mobile” should be matched to “phone”. Once all necessary fields are mapped you can tick “don’t import data in unmatched columns” if you have extra fields left that do not need to be included. Then select “next”.
5. Select “Advanced” and then change the primary contact preference to Phone. This means it will search for duplicate contacts based on the phone number, you can then add a secondary preference and set it as Email.
6. Add a unique Tag to your import. This is so you can easily filter through and find this group of contacts to send out your bulk SMS. The example below is “trial campaign”. The tag can be anything that makes sense to you, but it must be unique (not already being used in your account) to work as intended. Once this is done, select “submit”.
7. Select “Click Here” and then “Show Stats” to check the upload statistics in Bulk Actions. If you had a lot of errors the CSV file may need to be reformatted, however, a few errors are to be expected with large lists and are usually due to incorrect contact details.
8. Go back to Contacts and select “More Filters”. Filter your contacts by selecting Tag and the specific unique tag you created during the import, for example “trial campaign”.
You can then select the cross in the top-right corner and you will see your filtered list of contacts.
9. Select all of your filtered contacts by checking the tick box next to “Name” and then click “select all records”.
10. You are now ready to select from the action bar up the top “Send SMS” or “Add to Campaign/Workflow”.
